Meet Eric & Erin Wilder, founders of 81 & Sunny Digital Media Investments – a digital media investment agency HQ’ed in Sarasota, Florida. Immediately following independent successful 25-year careers at the enterprise level in the digital advertising industry, and a desire to leave behind the brutal Chicago winters forever, the Wilders relocated to Sarasota and founded an agency with the aspiration of making the digital marketing industry more accountable, especially from the agency side of things. Eric & Erin always knew there was a better way to service advertisers and it would all start with the simple concept of always providing 100% transparency and therefore constructing a solid foundation of trust with their clients upon which to grow.
For many years during their corporate careers, the Wilders witnessed or had first-hand experience with too many agencies in the industry, big or small, taking advantage of their advertising partners/clients. This was mostly occurring because clients were consistently being kept in the dark by their agencies about what their digital investments were producing from an ROI perspective. For example, ad accounts were owned by agencies and therefore were not keeping all performance data 100% transparent with their clients. Rather, they were knowingly doing the complete opposite. Or, agencies were only providing performance data on “fluffy numbers” like cheap impressions and clicks that made clients “feel good” but were purposely not working toward the goal of delivering true ROI because that would make these agencies too accountable for their services and would then eventually cut into the ridiculous margins/fees they were charging their clients for below par results.
